Red Bulls travel to Klagenfurt for seventh gameThomas Raffl: "Know what it takes to win in Klagenfurt" // win2day ICE Hockey LeagueTomorrow, Friday, the seventh and decisive playoff final of the win2day ICE Hockey League between EC-KAC and EC Red Bull Salzburg will take place in Klagenfurt (7:30 p.m., Puls 24). After the KAC forced a 3-3 tie in the best-of-seven series in the sixth final game in Salzburg on Tuesday, the ultimate showdown for the championship will now take place. The last home advantage belongs to the basic round winner, but four of the six victories so far have been won away from home.

Starting position
More excitement and more advertising for the Austrian ice hockey sport and the win2day ICE Hockey League is not possible: The two best Austrian clubs deliver an incredible final series and have to find the champion in the last and seventh game and thus in the last possible game of the entire season. The lead changed hands twice in the course of the final series and Klagenfurt was able to fend off the Red Bulls' first match puck in the last game. So now both teams have an equal chance of winning the title.
The Red Bulls have put aside the disappointment of missing out on their first chance at the title and are now looking forward to the ultimate final game, in which they will be determined to avoid falling behind early as they did in their last home game. In the previous finals in Klagenfurt - two wins and one defeat - the Red Bulls played very compactly out of a strong defense. That must also be the recipe for the seventh game against Klagenfurt, who now have a chance of winning the title themselves and can therefore no longer play with an "all or nothing" attitude. Once again, the game will largely be decided on mental aspects, with hardly any surprises to be expected in terms of tactics.
Playoff series
The finalists have met nine times in the playoffs in the past. The Red Bulls won five times, Klagenfurt four times. Four series went to seven games, of which the Red Bulls won three. The final has already gone the full distance twice; the KAC won in 2009 and the Red Bulls took the title in the last game of the season in 2011. The two teams also met in the playoffs last year, with the Red Bulls winning 4-1 in the 2023 semi-final and later becoming ICE Hockey League champions after seven games in the final against Bolzano.

"We made some serious mistakes early on in the last game, which Klagenfurt exploited to the full. Now we're looking forward to the seventh game, but we're trying to hold back our emotions in the run-up. It doesn't start until 7:30 pm tomorrow and when the puck drops, everyone has to be ready. We know what it takes to get a win against Klagenfurt. But we don't want to think too much, we want to be ready to work and leave everything on the ice."
