Three more key personnel decisions at the Red BullsWith Raffl, Nissner and Schneider, three key players remain in Salzburg // Roster UpdateEC Red Bull Salzburg is delighted to be able to continue working with leading players Thomas Raffl, Benjamin Nissner and Peter Schneider in the coming season.
This forward line played an immense role in the Red Bulls' success, and not just last season. The contracts of Raffl and Nissner have been extended, while Schneider still has a valid contract.
Highlights Thomas Raffl 2023/24
As captain and currently a long-serving Red Bulls player, Thomas Raffl is the face of the Salzburg team. The now 37-year-old striker is not only one of the club's top players with his invaluable experience, but also with his performance. Last season, he was once again Salzburg's top scorer with 55 points and also scored by far the most goals (28). Raffl, who celebrated his sixth championship title with the Red Bulls, scored eleven times in the playoffs alone, for which he was named best player of the playoffs (MVP). The veteran has also worn the captain's armband in the Austrian national team for many years and will lead the red-white-red team into its sixth A World Championship next week in Prague. Raffl will be starting his 14th season with the Red Bulls.
Highlights Benjamin Nissner 2023/24
Benjamin Nissner once again proved his qualities as a center last season and as the mastermind of the top line with wingers Thomas Raffl and Peter Schneider, but also as an enforcer himself, he provided Salzburg's best scoring line. After being sidelined for an extended period in the basic round due to illness, he fought his way back from the start of the year and was Salzburg's fourth-highest scorer (39 points, tied with Ryan Murphy) despite playing significantly fewer games, once again playing a major role in the Red Bulls' ninth title - his fourth overall for the club. The 26-year-old Viennese is also a fixture in the Austrian national team, and the upcoming World Championship in the Czech Republic will be his third major event.
Highlights Peter Schneider 2023/24
Like Benjamin Nissner, Peter Schneider has been playing in Salzburg for three seasons and has won three titles with the Red Bulls during this time. The 33-year-old striker with his strong character has consistently been one of Austria's top players for many years and is therefore also one of the most valuable players in Salzburg, playing a major role in the Red Bulls' successes. Schneider missed a total of 16 games due to an ankle injury suffered at the end of January and a further injury in the quarter-finals. Despite the persistent injuries, he finished the past championship season as Salzburg's second-best scorer (50 points) behind linemate Thomas Raffl and second-best goal scorer (19) behind Troy Bourke. As a true team player, he is a great support to the team not only through his effective play on the ice, but also mentally in his role as assistant captain. This is also paying off in the Austrian national team, where he is one of the best team players of recent years and has been selected for the upcoming World Championship.
